The water transfer printing process is extensively used to decorate items that range from Stocks and Forearms to Optic, and complete firearms. Films can be applied to all types of substrates including plastic, fiberglass, wood, ceramics, and metal. For the most part, if the item can be dipped in water and can be painted using traditional techniques then the hydrographic printing process can be used.

In the process, the substrate piece to be printed first goes through the entire painting process: surface preparation, cabinet blasting, priming, painting and or Cerakoting, and clear coating. After painting but before clear coating, the part is ready to be processed. A polyvinyl alcohol hydrographic film, which has been gravure-printed with the graphic image to be transferred, is carefully placed on the water's surface in the dipping tank. The clear film is water soluble, and dissolves after applying an activator solution. Once dipping is begun, the surface tension of the water will allow the pattern to curve around any shape.  Any remaining residue is then rinsed off thoroughly. The ink has already adhered and will not wash off. It is then allowed to dry.

The adhesion is a result of the chemical components of the activator softening the base coat layer and allowing the ink to form a bond with it.

Quality activator is one of the most important elements in producing a high quality, professional Hydrographic transfer.

Being creative with your project or restoration is never a problem,  Double dipping of some patterns only adds to the uniqueness of your project Dragon Scale over Snake skin is only of the many possibilities , The most common one we do is taking a plain piece of hard wood stock or damaged stock and do the repairs add the proper base coat and dip stock and forearms to a wood grain pattern giving a straight grain piece a completely grade 6 wood look to it, adding beauty to the refinished product.

Please be advised pricing is based on complete disassembled weapon systems by owner.

(be advised barrels of high volume fire such as Ar platform or Ak platform weapon systems not recommended for dipping since high temp will  dis-color some pattern`s, Cerakote  for barrels is highly recommended for longest life).

Also since this is a full service gunsmith shop we know where the graphic`s belong, not on slide rails not on barrel shrouds , not on hing points . Also bolts and other high friction area`s will not benefit from graphic printing, we can recommend to you for the longest service of your chosen design.

Please be advised unless requested we will use  the our industry time proven standard base paint and clear coat. If Cerakote is requested which is your strongest base and clear coat. please add $70.00 to cover the cost Base color and matte or high gloss second color of the Cerakote. (Please refer to the cerakote proper prep of a firearm regardless if Hydro base and clear is used or Cerakote is used, same strip down to base metal is preformed.
